Selecting the Right Kitchen Cabinets
Remodeling your kitchen can change the overall feel and value of your home. Kitchen cabinets will be the single most important feature of the kitchen. When selecting your cabinetry you need to ensure that they not only represent your style ideas, but they also serve all of your storage needs. This will ensure that when you walk into your kitchen it doesn’t feel like a house, but more like a home.
There are different types of cabinetry depending on your preference, and more importantly, your budget. There are three different classes of cabinetry: custom cabinets, semi-custom cabinets, and stock line cabinetry.
Custom Cabinets
Custom cabinetry is extremely convenient. It is built to your measurements, and you can make any sort of modification you would like. These cabinets are built specifically for your kitchen. With convenience comes cost; these cabinets tend to be the most expensive.
Semi-Custom Cabinets
The next type of cabinetry is the semi-custom cabinet lines. This type of cabinetry is more affordable and still somewhat flexible. Semi-custom cabinet manufacturers offer numerous sizes, multiple add-ons and accessories, and even allow for certain modifications. These cabinets are not built to your kitchen, but they can be modified to work for your home. These cabinets are priced less than custom cabinets, but the price increases depending on the accessories and add-ons you select.
Stock Cabinets
The last type of cabinetry that is available to home owners is stock cabinetry. With recent advances in technology, stock cabinetry has become a much more desirable candidate in home improvement. While there is not an endless amount of sizes and modifications available in stock lines, the quality is great. The stock lines can also save you up to 50% in comparison to a custom kitchen. Stock lines now offer certain add-ons and accessories, and even the stock cabinets allow for few modifications.
At the beginning of your renovation be sure to weigh out the pros and cons of all different types of cabinetry. If you are looking to fill in odd measurements and a budget is not in question, custom cabinetry may be the way for you to go. If you are looking to purchase cheap, durable, quality cabinets, then you should look into stock cabinetry. No matter what your guidelines and desires are, there are kitchen cabinets that are right for you and your home.
