What is Melamine?

MelamineMelamine is a manufactured wood. It is similar to particle board, but melamine is exceptionally stronger and made using a different process. The improvements in the overall construction of melamine have advanced the product’s use and popularity in the market. Today, many homeowners that are concerned with preserving sustainable resources are choosing melamine as an alternative to hardwood cabinetry.

The aesthetic of melamine is flexible and can be matched to any décor. A laminate is applied to the outer surfaces of melamine that can be used to match it to any style of kitchen, including some laminates that resemble wood grain. Melamine is made using particles of wood, paper and resin, which are all combined under extreme pressure. The fact that melamine now has many inherent properties that work together to make it fire retardant, resistant to moisture and warp-proof do make it a competitive alternative choice in kitchen décor.
