If you’re anything like me, monotony is the enemy! I like to keep things fresh and constantly change appearances, but that’s fairly simple when it comes to clothing. When you remodel your kitchen try to utilize as many different materials, textures, and looks while creating a cohesive look.

Using tile is a great way to liven up the kitchen. Granite counter tops that flow into granite backsplashes become boring after just a few days. With no variation in color or material, there is only so much that will catch the eye. You cannot change your kitchen every day like you would change your jewelery, so the key is to incorporate variety while you remodel.

By utilizing tile as either the counter top, the backsplash, or both you can create patterns with the tile. You can opt for an all white tile countertop and simply add one blue tile every foot to break up the white. You can also create a pattern using multiple different colored tiles for both the counter top and the backsplash. There are also tiles with hand painted designs to use as an aesthetic point. Remember, variety is the spice of life. Planning your kitchen with versatility in mind will help ensure your satisfaction for years to come.
