Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Most cabinets have normal squeaks when you open and close them. I stumbled upon this video randomly a few days ago and I had to post it. This cabinet sounds like Chewbacca! When I first saw this I instantly thought, “I wonder if we can make this an add-on for our cabinetry.” Until we figure out how, watch below to see the Chewbacca cabinet open and close. Do you think that this video of Chewie in the cabinet is real or not? Leave some comments and let us know if the Chewbacca cabinet exists. RUUUUUrhrGUGUGHRhghghghrRURURUghGHrrrrrr

Tradition Continues with Dark Cabinetry

Kitchen Makeover with Black Cabinets
Kitchen Makeover With Dark Kitchen Cabinetry

Traditional homes have such a regal, old world feeling, and it is a lot simpler than you think to incorporate this into your layout.

Utilizing dark kitchen cabinetry can bring the Victorian era right into your kitchen.  Opt for deep stained maple cabinets or cherry wood.  You should also go with a raised panel door, and steer clear from anything modern such as the slab door or recessed panel.

Infusing molding, such as crown molding, into your cabinet design will help add a little extra flair.

Kitchen Cabinet Kings - No Sales Tax
NO SALES TAX!

As consumers I’m sure most of us have come to terms with paying taxes. Mostly everything we do is taxed, so it becomes expected. There are many great reasons to purchase kitchen cabinets online. You can get your cabinets for cheaper, you no longer need to make appointment after appointment at show rooms or home centers, and there is typically more of a variety available at your finger tips. But there are many sites that do not charge sales tax on kitchen cabinets.

A red flag may have gone up, and you’re probably thinking there’s a catch. As long as you are ordering from a state that does not have a physical location or store, then the distributor does not legally have to charge you sales tax. As you know, the more expensive the product, the more expensive the tax, and with kitchen and bathroom cabinets being a large purchase, adding sales tax can sometimes bring it into an entirely different ball park.

You can not only save money on the internet because the prices are just that much lower, but you can also save that little extra by not having to pay sales tax. You can either hold on to those savings for a rainy day or splurge on the counter top that you’ve been eyeing.

Hanging New Kitchen Cabinets

As consumers we sometimes wind up being sold on a name. Instead of paying the big bucks for high quality, efficient products we are spending our hard earned money on the opportunity to own a brand. Luckily, if you are a smart shopper, you can find deals that will blow your mind more than any fancy logo can. With advances in modern technology stock line cabinetry is the up and coming trend. Exposure on HGTV and in home magazines have spread the news far and wide. You can have the kitchen of your dreams without breaking the bank.

Inexpensive cabinets, or cheap cabinets, sometimes turn people off. This has something to do with the word “cheap”, but that’s strictly the price. Inexpensive cabinets can also be very efficient. Many manufacturers of stock line cabinetry solely use plywood for the cabinet box construction. This is an additional cost when dealing with some of the semi custom or custom lines. There are also cheap cabinets that come with some of the more high end features like self closing doors and drawers, dovetail drawers, and finished interior. These features are what make the difference.

Don’t be so skeptical when you see such a low price; be a smart shopper. Somethings don’t have to cost an arm and a leg to be what you’re looking for. There can be tons of reasons the prices are so low, so take advantage of cheap cabinets. Create the kitchen you have always dreamed of for a fraction of the cost.

Renovations become stressful when you can’t seem to find the perfect match for what you are looking for. Perhaps your bathroom is lacking on storage space, and there is no linen closet nor ample room in the vanity. What do you do? Your kitchen is fully designed, you have all the cabinets you need, but it is lacking that extra flair. Is there anything that you can do to change that?

The answer is yes! The great thing about cabinetry is the versatility. You have so many selections to choose from, while it may be overwhelming, it comes in handy. You may need extra storage room in your bathroom, but you have no linen closet. Try using a tall kitchen pantry cabinet in your bathroom. As long as space permits, this kitchen cabinet can be transformed into the ideal free standing linen closet with no one knowing but yourself. Maybe your kitchen looks nice but you were looking for extraordinary, try using staggered height kitchen cabinets. This simple adjustment can change the entire look of your kitchen.

There are also the minor variations among cabinets that are not only helpful but sometimes necessary. You can purchase your base cabinets with doors only, one drawer and doors, or all drawers. You can use different colored cabinets throughout your kitchen. While options become tiring, they are also necessary. They allow you to mix and match until you find the perfect fit.

Kitchen Renovation Project
Kitchen Renovation Project

You want to get back what you put in, and more! While remodeling your kitchen is reward enough, with the change in aesthetics, you will also increase the value of your home. Your cabinetry may be run down and decrepit, you may be looking to simply change the design of the kitchen, or perhaps your looking to sell your home. Whatever the reason is, you will reap benefits down the road.

Kitchen cabinets stick out amongst the other components of the room. Your guests will “Ooh” and “Aah” more so over your new cabinetry than the glass tile backsplash or Viking Sub Zero, and rightfully so. Not only are the cabinets stylish, but they are also efficient and purposeful.

By adding new cabinets to your kitchen you can incorporate many helpful options. Purchasing all plywood cabinets leave the home owner, whether it is you now or someone in the future, with sturdy, good quality cabinets. You can also get the dovetail drawer option; this allows your nerves to be eased about placing a lot of weight in your drawers. Self-close cabinet doors may be the biggest selling point. These doors eliminate that surprising, annoying noise of doors slamming, so while you may not be looking to sell your home anytime soon, adding new kitchen cabinets will make your life easier and increase the value of your home whenever you are looking to sell.

Replacing vs. Refacing Your Cabinets

New Cabinets

There is this urban myth that refacing your cabinetry is more economically savy than replacing them. Truth is, it is just that, a myth! Refacing your cabinetry MAY be cheaper, but often times it can become more expensive. Spending any money, whether it be a little to a boat load, doesn’t make sense unless it is effective.

Refacing your cabinets is basically replacing the doors and drawers, leaving the cabinet box as is, and sometimes refinishing the exterior. This leaves you with no room to change the layout of the kitchen, and it also does not include any modern accessories.

By replacing your existing cabinetry you are receiving them brand new, and you can play around with your floor plan. Maybe moving a few cabinets around to change the look completely. I think when you are taking on a remodel it is best to go all out; if you’re going to make a change, make it big! This doesn’t necessarily mean expensive; there are tons of ways to get new cabinets at low costs. By looking at cabinets online, you can even find new cabinets for lower costs than refacing your existing kitchen!
