Under Cabinet Lights
Under Cabinet Lights

Lighting sets the mood of your home. You can create an intimate setting by utilizing dim lights, or you can produce a friendly environment by using very bright lighting. One way to accentuate your assets is by incorporating under cabinet lighting.

Under cabinet lighting is a track of lights that are hidden underneath your cabinets. These lights shine directly on to your counter top. Under cabinet lighting is a great spotlight. You can focus the attention of your family and friends on your new espresso machine or your newest kitchen accessory.

The lights are also purposeful. We’ve all been chopping, cleaning, or serving food on a poorly lit counter top. These lights offer more light on the concentrated work area. This way there is no more uncertainty; you can work effortlessly.

Under cabinet lighting is a great way to add a little more sparkle to your kitchen. With the light reflecting off your tile or stone counter top, spot lighting your accessories, your guests will be drawn to your kitchen!

Before Cabinet Refacing
Before Cabinet Refacing

Do you want new kitchen or bathroom cabinets, but you can’t afford it?  Sometimes a cabinet remodel is financially out of reach no matter how far you try to stretch a dollar.  This doesn’t mean that you can’t have a kitchen that looks like new.  Here are some tips and tricks to make your dingy kitchen cabinets sparkle like new.

Try replacing the knobs and pulls on your kitchen cabinet doors and drawers.  By changing the hardware you will add a little extra flair to your kitchen.  If your current pulls are wooden, try incorporating a polished metal in silver, bronze, or copper.

You can also attempt to restain your cabinets yourself.  By sanding down your current kitchen cabinets and applying a new stain it will give the kitchen a brand new feel.  Without having to pay cabinet manufacturers to finish and highlight your cabinets you will save tons of money.

Also try rearranging what can be moved in your kitchen.  If you have a painting on one wall, try moving it to the other. This will play with the look of the kitchen.  Painting the walls will also help change up the theme of your kitchen cabinets without costing you money.

Finishing The Look Of Your Kitchen

Kitchen Cabinet Knobs

You have finished the kitchen remodel, or so you think. Your new kitchen cabinets, countertops, and backsplash have been installed. The walls have fresh coats of paint, and the new tile floor has been put in. But something seems to be missing. The kitchen looks exactly how you had planned, but it is not tied together. The hardware is the accessories to your kitchen, and like any must have look, these items will help create a cohesive look.

One form of hardware is cabinet pulls and handles. You will have knobs on every door and drawer in your kitchen, so while they may be tiny, with their abundance throughout the kitchen they will have quit an impact on the aesthetics. These pulls and handles come in a wide variety of materials, styles, and colors. There are wooden pulls, chrome knobs, and art deco handles. There is a kitchen handle to compliment your kitchen beautifully.

Towel racks are also something many consumers look past. I have seen one too many kitchens where the paper towel roll is simply placed by the sink (my house included), and with this comes disaster. The paper towels or dishtowel fall into the sink, and it falls off the counter and comes unwound. To avoid this chaos and to bring a little more style into the room, opt for a towel rack. They are offered in stainless steel, chrome, bronze, silver, etc.

Lighting fixtures are another great way to tie together the overall theme of your kitchen. Besides standard recessed or track lighting, there are also lighting fixtures that you can incorporate. If you have dark cherry cabinets and an off white wall, bringing that regal feel to your home, you can try placing a small (or large) chandelier over your kitchen table or breakfast bar. You can also use pendant lighting of any style along your island.

Your room is not complete until the hardware is purchased and installed on your cabinets. These small items can be found for extremely low prices, but they will have a huge impact on the style of your room.
